Bones Like Bridges Cover Reveal

My novel Bones Like Bridges was supposed to come out at the end of May this year, but, like many others, I’ve had to change my plans. I’m not the only writer whose release date has been pushed back due to the pandemic.

Right now it feels like my book lives in a weird little limbo. Does it exist? Will it exist?

Loads of my my friends have had their releases lost in the current crisis, and I feel awful for them. So much work goes into a novel. Not just the writing, though that is a huge part of it. The years of rewriting and editing, the wait for a sale, the time spent working with your editor and copy-editors to get the story into its best shape. The wait for a cover, for blurbs, for first readers to start slowly reviewing arcs.

A quick timeline for a book is easily two years.

Two years of work, swallowed up in a week where your book sinks beneath a howling sea of Virus Alerts and Opinion Pieces.

A bit more than two years has gone into Bones Like Bridges. It was one of my earliest books, and has gone through an immense amount of work to shape it into the novel it is today. I wrote it before I wrote When the Sea is Rising Red, if that’s any indication!

And today, while I don’t have a current release date, I do have a cover and some back cover blurbage to show off.

So if stories about vampires and moody cities with magical families and power struggles are your bag, baby, then keep an eye open for further announcements.

And now, finally…dun dun dun….

LO, THE COVER!

Until the next exciting update, keep yourselves safe!
