bren no work now

I had a grand time at Eastercon, though sadly my partner in crime got sick halfway through and had to retire to her bed for the rest :(

As usual, I can’t remember most of what i did, but for change I did make it to the disco and karaoke. I danced like a drunk teenager at a high school prom, but did not sing, because there are limits.

Belfast was pretty -- in a weird way it reminded me of Joburg (yep, that was me, the South African, not registering spiked palisade and barbed wire, because those are normal to me.) I loved the sheer amount of murals, and the place was vibing at night (less so on Easter Sunday for some reason.)

(I am not photogenic, so I usually hate pics of me, but I love this one E.M. Faulds took)

I got to give the MK Hardy duo the dice I made (inspired by the cover of their debut novel, The Needfire.)

I went to a few readings, and did one of my own, but the highlight was, without a doubt, Neil Williamson reading his short piece from Nova Scotia Two, Midnight Flit, which uses a glorious touch of sing-song Scots - perfectly read in Neil’s understated soft drawl - playing with the motif of St Mungo and Glasgow’s coat of arms to tell a welcoming rush of a story.

I don’t think a single Glaswegian in the reading was dry-eyed after.

In other news, Pink Hydra are taking my Cat Rages About How Greedy Developers Destroyed Knysna story, so that’s very cool.

Also I have done many more edits on Book 2, and I no longer have a functioning brain. It’s back to work this week so I should probably try install a new one.
