Community and where to find me

Discordian Thoughts
I’ve had my tiny discord (Moonlight and Gin) running since 2023, during which time I have invited 1 (ONE) person because I’m like that.
Shall we make this year the one in which I do not avoid promotion and feeling weird about interacting with people who might like my work?
I don’t have insta or tiktok so I realise I have closed those avenues, but I spend a lot of my spare time on discord and bluesky, so it makes sense to have a wee discord where people can chat with me if they want to.
Upcoming Stuff I’m Looking Forward To
Next week I’ll be in Edinburgh to attend the launch of MK Hardy’s debut novel The Needfire at Blackwell’s on South Bridge.

I’m also trying to listen to podcasts even though I zone out - currently I’m listening to one of my favourite writers, Lorraine Wilson, talking to Unfortunately…. about failure and writing. (episode 1.13)
I’m super excited for her new novel The Salt Oracle to come out which i read a while back and adore. It has all my favourite things — the sea a strange as seas should be, digital ghosts and mythology, and stories about stories — along with gorgeous writing, so I can’t wait to have my copy.

Writing and Reading
I’ve just turned in a revised novel to my agent, about mages and religion and a house that spans time and dimensions, so now I’m focusing on the sequel to The Shape of Monsters, which is tentatively due out early 2026.

Luckily these edits don’t look daunting, though I really need to learn to write sub 120k so I don’t have to go through the waffle with shears.
I’ve just started Robert Jackson Bennett’s The Tainted Cup, which I kinda bounced off in the first few pages, but pressed on and now I’m enjoying it — think Sherlock and Watson in a Telvanni-run fungal Morrowind and you kinda have the vibes.

Life Stuff
And in non-writing news, it is still the humid summer of humidity and I’m going on rambling walks through overgrown woods and occasionally taking refuge in the rink.
Anyway here is a teasel because teasels are cool
